Led by North Lanarkshire Council and Main Contractor, CCG (Scotland), a total of 150 two-and-three-bedroom homes are being delivered at Dykehead Road and are set for completion in autumn 2023.
Of the 150 homes, nineteen homes will have enhanced specification in the form of an entirely zero-emissions energy strategy. Formed as a ‘pilot’ initiative, the homes will be utilised to test quality and cost in the delivery of net zero homes as part of a wider transition to become a net zero local authority by 2030.
Arc-Tech (Scotland) is supporting the project with a suite of Renewable Services. All 150 homes will have solar PV panel systems installed on the roof – the 131 homes built to Silver Active III specification will have a range of 6, 11, 13 & 14 panels per dwelling; however, each net zero home will have 13 or 14 panels to achieve the desired net zero performance which represents a total 1339 solar PV panels installed across the development.
Each net zero plot also has its own Electric Vehicle (EV) charging point.
The solar PV panel system is then connected to a highly intuitive solar battery system supplied by Tesla. Arc-Tech is a certified Tesla installer; each unit is installed externally to each plot and connects to the main switchboard for the property. Through its use, energy that is captured during daylight hours is stored for later use which allows the resident to take advantage of variable tariffs. As a result, the storage unit, when combined with an inherently thermally efficient property, will help reduce fuel bills, associated with regulated operational energy, by as much as 50%.
Each net zero plot will be analysed post-occupancy for a year’s duration to understand the true impact on consumption and fuel bills with the results helping to inform the future strategy for net zero new build housing delivery in the region.
Holehills is set for completion in late-2023.
